I’ll be honest, neither had 50% of The Big Love Yoga Community before they started! The Big Love Yoga Community is possibly the best place to give yoga a go for the first time because you can be at home in your personal space without other people around you. You’ll be less distracted and you won’t be tempted to compare yourself to others.
Walking into a yoga studio can be daunting however, being online you don’t have that worry.
Everyone who joins the BLYC is offered a 1-1 session online with me so we can get to know one another and for you to receive personal guidance so you can begin your practice feeling supported and confident on your mat.
Everyone in the class will be on mute once I start teaching so you will have complete privacy, it will almost be like it’s just me and you in your room!

Yoga first and foremost is a mindful practice that calms your entire nervous system, all the other physical effects are a bonus, therefore, all you need is a body that will be comfortable practising yoga lying down, standing or seated.
You don’t need to be bendy to do yoga however practising yoga will probably make you feel more flexible.
The sessions I teach are about developing your self-awareness, mobility, strength and self-confidence. It all starts with self-awareness and learning to listen to your body.
I will be guiding you through various options of a pose or movement so you can choose how to move your body and explore what feels right for you that day.

Great question!
In the morning we have ‘Rise + Vibe,’ an uplifting vinyasa yoga flow to awaken your whole body with an element of playfulness to start your day feeling good!
The morning sessions are a blend of movements and poses to build strength and stability within your body. You’ll explore playful movements with energising breath-work to shift stagnant energy and help focus your mind ready for your day.
In the evenings we have ‘Recharge + Revive’ to help you slow things down at the end of your day. This session helps you transition from your day into your evening by combining a gentle and slower vinyasa flow with restorative yoga poses to stretch out your body and unravel your body-mind.
This session is about learning to ground yourself, exploring calming breath-work and more mindful movement to release tension and increase your mobility.

Mainly Vinyasa and restorative. Both terms are very loose in their meaning.
A Vinyasa is a series of poses put together in a special way to create a smooth transition as you move between each of the poses (asanas).
Vinyasa yoga can be taught slow or at a faster more energetic pace creating a more dynamic practice. When practising forms of Vinyasa yoga each movement is paired with the breath helping to calm and focus your mind even more.
The style of Vinyasa yoga I teach can be slower at times to invite you to be more mindful as you move, developing self-awareness and building your strength and mobility.
You will never feel the need to rush to keep up in The Big Love Yoga Community.
The vinyasa I teach is specially created to tone and strengthen your body whilst calming your nervous system and helping to develop focus, self-awareness and confidence.

Not much to be honest. Unlike other movement practices, you are relatively ‘confined’ to your mat.
You move along the length of the mat, you may need some additional room at the sides of your mat but yoga doesn’t require a great deal of space!
The size of the average yoga mat is 24 inches wide (60.96 cm) and 68 to 72 inches long (172.72 cm to 182.88 cm). This is the mat size people feel most comfortable practising on.
When you consider where you are going to practice yoga, add a little extra width to allow for your arms to be extended at your sides but otherwise, this is the amount of space you will need!
Another fun way is to lie on the floor and imagine making a snow angel, trust me this is a good way to figure out if you have enough space to do yoga!

You can use whatever device you would normally use to view videos or access meetings online; your phone, an iPad or tablet, laptop, a smart TV or a desktop computer… Whatever is easiest for you to use, see and hear when you are on your yoga mat.
-
Finding a space you feel comfortable practicing yoga and where you will have minimal distractions are the most important things to consider.
A yoga mat is beneficial but not essential; a mat will add a level of comfort to your practice and may reduce slipping.
Yoga props such as blocks, straps, and bolsters can also be supportive however, I often encourage the use of cushions, pillows, blankets, books, or a scarf as helpful alternatives when starting out.
Once you have found your rhythm with your yoga practice you might feel happy to invest in a few extra props or upgrade your mat, however until then, come as you are with what you have.
A towel on a carpeted floor is enough for now if you don’t have a yoga mat.

The sessions are live-streamed for a start so I will be there to say “Hello” and ask how you are when you log on. The sessions are on zoom so at the beginning of the class you’ll be greeted by friendly faces as your fellow members log on and we come together for our practice.
Every class is different so it never gets boring and you won’t find yourself stuck doing the same yoga sequence as you can end up doing on YouTube.
We are a community so there is collective energy you can feel in the sessions even though we are online. It’s human connection without the worry of needing to be ‘perfect’.
-
What I love about the online yoga community is that we can all be practising on our own in our own personal space and environment yet we are not alone!
Every session is live-streamed so it’s in real-time, there’s always a conversation or rather a natter at the start of class, and I am talking to you throughout the session, not simply giving instructions, it’s personal and it’s about our community practising yoga together!
-
The sessions are the same every week. Monday to Friday, there are two morning sessions and three evening sessions, and all yoga sessions are held via zoom.
The online studio is closed on Bank Holidays and a Christmas schedule is announced in November to ensure you get the most out of your membership through December with some well-deserved rest too!
-
The Big Love Yoga Community is a live online yoga studio so please join the live session that works for you and your lifestyle!
I make a conscious effort to make the sessions feel inclusive and personal, so for your privacy and comfort, I do not record the live yoga sessions.
-
Some members like to have a regular class they attend every week although sometimes that simply isn't possible, life happens. If you are unable to attend your usual class I encourage you to try an alternative that week, be flexible with yourself and your lifestyle.
There is no need to book in advance so you can attend at a time which suits you best that week. If you miss your sessions completely remember you have access to the Wellness Hub.
-
We all deserve some time off however this is also why I created the Wellness Hub which you can explore 24/7!

I have a very considered list of guest teachers who I will invite into the online community to share their unique practices with you if I need to travel or I am unable to teach. If I am unwell at short notice you will receive a specially curated selection of sessions to support and nurture you while I am out of action.
