Falling out of routines, embracing your wobbles and finding your rhythm.

For me, this week has been about finding my rhythm. Something about September invites a fresh perspective and an opportunity to change things up. Routines feel like they need reviewing as the seasons start to shift, the mornings are cooler and slowly the nights are getting darker. As the seasons shift we can take inspiration and reflect on what are needs truly are and how they will change as the darker months roll in.

For many of you who have children or are returning from time away over the Summer, it might feel like it's time to get things going again, to get back to your routines and find your rhythm with everything you have going on.

September is when I start to reflect on what I wanted from and for myself this year, it's a time when I renew my intentions and have a deep desire to make these next few weeks and months really count! If you feel the same it’s easy to see how easily you can get caught up in the hustling energy and become impatient.

It’s when we allow ourselves to get swept up in the doing that we lose a sense of why we’re doing it in the first place.

The start of September marks the beginning of Virgo season and with it comes this earthy and grounded Virgo energy that loves a practical solution, applying knowledge and getting organised, it also craves perfection amid the chaos of what’s going on. This might bring some relief if you’ve been feeling this way lately, it’s that season.

This is The New Term; the season that is on your terms!

How do you want to feel within yourself and about your routines and lifestyle?

Go deep as you reflect on this think about how you want to feel emotionally, physically and energetically, even spiritually.

Ask yourself; What is feeling clunky right now, sticky and just isn’t flowing the way you want it to? Consider your day-to-day routines and lifestyle. Go back to how you want to feel, what isn’t making you feel this way?

What one thing can you choose this week (or next) that will change what’s not feeling good for you right now, and step you closer to well-being? - The best version of you!

Finding your rhythm is about embracing your wobbles along the way as you come back to old habits or start new ones. Learning to listen to your body gives you the power to change things up as and when you need to.

Routines don’t need to be set in stone they can have an element of fluidity to them, acknowledging that different days will call for different tools, in different ways. Listening to your body and honouring your needs day-to-day will make the process of finding your rhythm all that more achievable.

As we move towards the Full Moon in Pisces on Saturday (11.07 am BST) we may be feeling quite heady and life may feel ‘full-on’. You may have a lot of energy building this week that may be encouraging a "get back on top of things" mentality. This is the Harvest Moon so this is a time to sit back and. Review what’s going well, a time to gather and enjoy what you’ve been working hard on already this year.

Pisces is a watery energy connected to our emotions so combined with the grounded practicality of Virgo, this Full Moon is about finding compassion for yourself emotionally, and physically, and creating a sense of calm so you can flow with the changes. This Pisces Full Moon is also inviting us to explore imagination and daydreaming, perfectly timed for the weekend.

It’s easy to keep pushing on when things need to get done and to get swept up in the fear of not having enough time, or not doing enough. What if you took 5-mins a day, maybe 30-mins or even an hour to pause, to slow down and rest? In those moments you’d create space; space to breathe, to reflect and to feel, a chance to actually honour what you were feeling, how you are feeling! It’s easy to believe resting is lazy when there’s so much to do however deep restoration is what we need in order to reconnect, realign and remind ourselves why we are doing all this in the first place!

It’s in the time I give myself to walk in the woods or when I’m lying on my bed doing a Yoga Nidra or meditating that I receive the most inspiration; I activate my imagination and drop from my head back into my body; I stop being stuck in my over-thinking mind and my intuition switches on!

This my friend is when the magic happens; when we get to ask ourselves what we need.

It’s when you receive the most honest and intuitive answers to questions like; What’s challenging you and keeping you stuck? And, what do you have the power to change, right now?

Create space in your diary to pause and reconnect, it’s as important as everything else you make time for, in truth, it will make getting everything else achieved so much easier to do!

And breathe.

Be kind as you find your rhythm this month my friend, notice what feels clunky, embrace your wobbles and honour your needs, especially the meltdown moments.

Remember, change is inevitable. Just as the moon will shift to New (Black Moon) at the end of the month so too will your energy levels, mood and intentions. Go with it, find calm amid the chaos and allow yourself to flow with the changes, your way. If you want to create time for yourself this month I invite you to join me for Equinox, a full-day in-person yoga + wellness retreat on Saturday 24th September.

This is an opportunity to explore mindful self-healing practices that will inspire and empower you.
